Introduction

Paleovínculo: Cartas de rescate is a singleplayer puzzle game from developer ignacioalonsomurias. A young dinosaur has disappeared from a reserve, and your job is to find it and bring it back. The story unfolds in an alternate Argentina where people and recreated dinosaurs live together in protected reserves; some of those dinosaurs assist rescue brigades thanks to their particular abilities. You become part of one such brigade and work through three connected situations. In each one, you study the scene, consider the risks, and assemble a team from cards: a keeper, either a park ranger or a veterinarian; a dinosaur, either an Amargasaurus or an Eoraptor; and an optional tool, either a harness or a whistle. Cards bring different capabilities to the team, and the outcome depends on whether your combination can handle the maneuver safely. Combat is absent; the real work is understanding the context and cooperating. Illustrations and audiovisual effects accompany the rescue, and paleontological profiles introduce the dinosaurs that inspired the game. Hints and explanations help you follow the logic behind each decision. You interact with the mouse to select cards, review abilities, use hints, and confirm combinations. Sound can be switched on or off from the main menu, and the developer suggests playing on a computer in fullscreen. Six cards and three linked puzzles keep the experience centered on careful reading and thoughtful team building.
